We began recording late 2012 at Marmalade studios. Supporting Geoff, Bill and Neil were Andrew Richardson (drums), James Taite Jamieson (tenor and baritone saxophones) and Nick van Dijk (trumpet, trombone, flugelhorn). Additional backing vocals by Lynley Goodison and Jade Eru added a rich complexity to a number of the tracks with Jenny O’Connor’s photos, Fergus Collinson’s art work and Pip Payne’s layouts and design creating a stunning visual accompaniment to the music.
Our 4th Album was A Night On The Town. In April 2009. We headed into Trident Studios, to record. Neil, Bill and Geoff worked closely with our engineer and co-producer, Andrew Downes, and with a core band consisting of Justin Hooper (drums and percussion), Michael Taylor (trumpet) and Jabin Ward (tenor sax), Nick van Dijk (trumpet, trombone, tuba) and Damian Forlong (trombone). Jenny O’Connor and Jesse Keith were again involved in the wonderful CD art.
Our 3rd album – ‘Midnight Down in the Jungle’ - was recorded live on November 13 2005 at Bar Bodega. Alongside Geoff, Bill and Neil were Justin Hooper (drums and percussion), Damian Forlong (trombone), Michael Taylor (trumpet), Jabin Ward (saxophone) and Brenda Shearer (backing vocals). Creative, eye catching photography (Jenny O’Connor) and visual layouts (Jesse Keith) rounded off a superb album.
Spin the Same was recorded in 2002 at a couple of Wellington venues – the Elizabeth Street Chapel in Mt Victoria and the Breaker Bay Hall…. The album was recorded by Marcus Wilson, live with no overdubs. And what a great band! Along with Neil (Lead vocals, harmonicas, guitars), Bill (guitars, backing vocals) and Geoff (Bass, backing vocals) were Nick van Dijk (trumpet, flugel horn, trombone, piano), Damian Forlong (trombone), Greg Harrison (drums), Kieran Monaghan (percussion)
Neil Worboys, Bill Wood and Geoff Keith formed Wellington Heads in 1995 to write and perform their own music. In the late 1990s, along with Kieran Monaghan (drums) we recorded a number of the songs that we were playing live and the result was the first Wellington Heads album - Songs From The Living Room. We had a great album release gig at Bar Bodega in Upper Willis St and Songs From The Living Room was unleashed on the unsuspecting public of Wellington.
